Sindaco is a narrative-driven game, set in a sleepy fishing town in the wild, untamed landscape of Southern Italy. You play as the Mayor – the Sindaco – of the town, and it is your task to transform your traditional Italian village into a bustling tourist hub. Through interacting with the warm, but eclectic characters in your town, you will be able to affect the livelihoods of your people through your decisions, revitalising your economy and dragging it – sometimes by force – into the twenty-first century.
Prop and Set Design
Making the Sindaco trailer was challenging, as I had a week to finish it and it was my first 3D animation. I used as many stage tricks as I could in order to optimise my time, and I made good use of post processing effects to give the low poly assets some stylisation.
I also relied heavily on my custom toon-shader, with its cel-style shading and heavy inked lines. This worked really well for the buildings and other static objects, but was less effective for the moving actors, as you can see in the video.
